Doesn't old age just naturally creep up on us?

"Old age never creeps up on anyone. In spite of the fallacious ideas of those who are approaching the golden years of a productive life, old age is not lurking in the background. There is no use looking over your shoulder in fear of its approach. Old age is not approaching you from the rear. It is somewhere out there in the future. Neither is it a fixed quantity or entity which you can give the distinction of being. Old age is only a mythical state of being, arbitrarily invented by your own process of mind. Haven't you seen individuals who were old at forty, while others are young at eighty?

Old age, then, is a combination of mental attitude and physical wellbeing. Either one may be in the plus or in the minus column of your life's ledger. Regardless of the column in which it appears, you are responsible for its appearance there. And you CAN make new entries in that ledger regardless of your age. All you have to do is start living the NUTRITIONAL WAY TO HEALTH."

Well said by Dr. Forrest C. Shaklee.

Here's the product that I take.  It addresses anti-aging at the cellular level.

Cholesterol Ratio - What does it mean?

Do you know what your PERSONAL  cholesterol readings are?
What is YOUR ratio between HDL(good) and total cholesterol?
How important is RATIO?

"Studies indicate that the ratio between HDL and total cholesterol may be an even more important indicator of heart disease risk than high total cholesterol," says Dr. William Costelli, Director of the Framingham Heart Study.

To determine your ratio, divide your TOTAL cholesterol by your TOTAL HDL cholesterol.  The Framingham study found that the average man who developed coronary heart disease had a ratio between 5.4 and 6.1.

Test your knowledge on this. It could save your life!
Look at the following blood lipid numbers:
John has total cholesterol of 250, HDL cholesterol of 50, and ratio of 5.
Steve has total cholesterol of 200, HDL cholesterol of 20, and ratio of 10.

Who is more  likely to have a heart attack?  Even though John should get his cholesterol down, Steve is much more likely to have a heart attack because of his high ratio.

What are suggested ratios?
Men should be below 4.6.
Women should be below 4.0.
Very good is below 3.5.
Excellent is below 3.0.
Fantastic is below 2.6.
Actually, plaque reversal can occur around 2.6.

For every point that you raise your HDL over 50, you reduce your heart attack risk by seven percent.  Just go from 50 to 53, and you reduce your risk by 21 percent.

To RAISE HDL Cholesterol:
Do not smoke.
Get aerobic exercise regularly.
Get your weight down to at least normal.
Increase soluble fiber.
Increase fish oil.
Add vitamin E.
Get unhealthy fats out of your diet.

Go for a HEALTHY HEART!

Is the Immune System like Star Wars?

Is the Immune System like Star Wars? Sorta.  That is, IF it is working correctly.

Ever wonder why best friends, Jane and Sue, go shopping, and both are exposed to the same germ.  Jane gets sick.  Sue does not.  What is the difference? Simple answer.
The state of their immune system.

We cannot avoid germs.  But, we can prepare our body for a "Star Wars" attack again them. We can keep our immune system on "ready alert" so that it attacks intruders immediately and kills them before they can invade enough cells to make us sick.

An ingredient called INTERFERON is a very important component
of our immune system, and here is an EXCELLENT website that
explains how it works in the body.

Check it out:    UNDERSTANDING INTERFERON
